FAQ

  • Why should I hire a running coach instead of buying a cheaper pre-made plan?
Studies have shown that working with a coach increases success rates and reduces injury rates. Hiring a coach is an investment in yourself, and your health. Pre-made plans will never be able to give you the personalized, adaptive training that you need to reach your full potential. With a coach, you have someone to hold you accountable, to look for areas of weakness and work on them before they become a problem, and to adjust your training as necessary to maximize its benefits.
  • Aren't running coaches just for elite athletes?
Actually, the benefits of hiring a coach as a beginner or intermediate level runner are just as great as they are for an elite. Creating good running habits early on can help you safely build a strong training base and aid in injury prevention. For example, understanding correct running form, equipment, training and racing strategies and fueling will lead to success more quickly than the trial and error of doing it yourself. A coach will help you avoid mistakes that could jeopardize your progress or your health. The knowledge a coach provides is something you will have for the rest of your life, so even if you take a break from running, you'll know how to get started again.
  • What if something happens that prevents me from continuing to train?
We know that life can throw some curveballs at you and we want to support our clients during these times. For clients that are paying for our 1:1 Coaching subscription services, we offer a pause option. Contact your coach as soon as possible and let them know that you would like to pause your subscription. Your subscription can be paused for up to a year from the agreed upon pause date, with the option to extend given on a case by case basis.
  • Your programs offer fueling strategies, does this include meal plans/dieting advice?
No. We do not offer meal plans, nor will we monitor our clients' eating habits. Meal planning should only be done by a Registered Dietician, and preferably one that has experience with athletes. Our fueling strategies are general tips for athletes that are based strictly on current information obtained from trusted Registered Dieticians. This information is meant to give you the knowledge to make informed decisions on how to structure your fueling before and after workouts and races. It is not meant to be used as a dieting guide, or weight loss program. If you would like to learn more about the specifics of fueling for runners or incorporate a customized meal plan into your routine, we would be happy to recommend a Registered Dietician for you to contact.
